What happens during a design consultation?
Julie, our Window Covering Designer, discusses the room, your priorities, how the windows are used and the look you want to achieve. We evaluate light, privacy, heat, views, architecture and operating needs, then help you compare appropriate products, materials and design options. When the direction is established, we take the measurements needed to prepare your proposal.
Do you provide professional measuring and installation?
Yes. Professional measuring and installation are part of our full-service approach. Our team reviews project requirements, installs the treatments, completes necessary programming and explains normal operation and care. After installation, we take care of you for the lifetime of your product.
What types of window treatments do you offer?
We offer custom shades, blinds, shutters, drapery, sheers, Roman shades, woven woods, roller and solar shades, cellular shades, blackout shades, treatments for sliding doors and specialty shapes, motorization, luxury outdoor patio solar screens, retractable patio shades and motorized retractable awnings.
Do you carry Hunter Douglas?
Yes. We offer the complete Hunter Douglas collection along with design guidance, measuring, ordering, professional installation and continuing service. We also carry select products from Alta, Carole Fabrics and other specialty suppliers.
Can you motorize my window treatments?
Many shades, blinds and draperies can be motorized. Available power and control options depend on the product, window size, construction stage and desired smart-home integration. We help determine the right system before ordering, and we can assist with the automation setup on most home automation systems.
How long will my project take?
Lead times vary by product, fabric availability, customization and season. We provide the best available estimate when your order is prepared and keep you informed as the project moves through fabrication and installation scheduling.
Why do custom window treatments cost more than ready-made products?
Custom treatments are made for the exact window and designed around the room. The investment includes professional guidance, precise measuring, premium materials and construction, customization, project coordination, skilled installation and service after installation. It is a complete solution rather than an off-the-shelf product.
How much should I budget for custom window treatments?
A helpful guideline is to plan for 1 to 3 percent of your home’s value. For example, a home valued at $2 million would typically plan for $20,000 to $60,000. Where your project falls in that range depends on:
- The number and size of the windows
- The products and fabrics selected
- Motorization and smart-home integration
- Whether outdoor living shades are included
